All activities performed at EKO SERBIA petrol stations on a daily basis are completed in compliance with the Environmental Protection Act (passed by the Serbian Parliament at the 6th meeting of the Second Parliamentary Session on December 14, 2004).
Our primary objective is to ensure the prevention, control and remediation of environmental pollution in all its forms. Therefore, all necessary steps should be taken to keep the environment clean and to prevent environmental disasters. Below are some suggestions for waste and contaminants management.
Used oil and lubricants
One of the most dangerous environmental contaminants are used or burned up, unusable engine oil and lubricants. These oils should be collected at a special location (unusable mineral oil tank) and should never be spilled on the ground or into the sewer. The tank should be checked every day and emptied in regular intervals. There are companies that buy, re-refine and resell used mineral oil on the market as cheap mineral oil for simple use.
The petrol station manager is responsible for keeping a record of delivery notes issued by the person who collects used mineral oil.
Technical water
All technical water from petrol stations passes through a mud collector/separator, which separates solid substances (mud, etc.) from oil derivatives (oil, petrol, lubricants) before releasing the water into the sewer.
In order to work properly, the mud collector must be serviced at least once in six months as follows:
The inlet/outlet port is closed
The collected fluid is removed by a special waste tanker
The mud collected at the bottom is removed and taken to the disposal unit
The tank bed is then cleaned out
The inlet/outlet port is opened
The tank is refilled with clean water (up to level of inlet/outlet port)
Cleaning of drain canal with metal grille
These canals are located at the entrance and exit of a petrol station and the entrance and exit of a car wash. The canal should be serviced at least once per month (or more often during rainy season) as follows:
The metal grille is removed
The mud collected at the bottom is removed and taken to the disposal unit
The canal floor and walls (on which the grille rests) are thoroughly cleaned with sharp brushes
